Churchill guarantee to beat your renewal quote as long as it's on a like-for-like basis and you've been claim free for the last 3 years. Below is outlined the key points of the policy:

Churchill Policy Assumptions:
In order to complete a quote and apply for Churchill Car Insurance all of the following statements must be correct:
  • All drivers hold a valid EU driving licence are at least 17 years of age,  and live within the UK.
  • All drivers are under 80 years of age. If you are over 80 you can obtain a quote over the telephone by calling (0800 200 326).
  • For all drivers the total number of claims or accidents must not exceed 2 in the last 3 years. 
  • The total number of fixed penalties, convictionsor disqualifications for all drivers can not exceed 2 in the last 5 years.
  • The car is owned and registered at your address by you and has not been modified or altered in any way (including optional extras). Eg. - bodywork, suspension, wheels and engine.
  • Use of your vehicle in connection with the Motor Trade is excluded under this car insurance policy.
  • You must use the vehicle for social, domestic and pleasure use or for commuting to and from your place of work. If you or any drivers entitled to drive under this policy use the vehicle in connection with their business then you must contact us to include this cover (0800 200 326).
  • Your business or the business of your employer is not in any way connected with any of the following: professional sports, the entertainment and fashion industry, scrap or salvage merchants, foreign service or diplomatic personnel, mini-cab controllers or drivers, general dealers.
  • The annual mileage of your car does not exceed 25,000 miles.
  • The value of your vehicle should not exceed £50,000.
  • Your No Claims Discount (NCD) must be provided by an insurer from an EU country. Direct Line accept Proof of NCD from other countries entirely at their own discretion. Proof must be the original documentation, not a copy, written in English and the NCD level shown in years, not as a percentage.
  • You will accept that the Churchill car insurance policy will renew itself automatically and agree to Churchill automatically renewing your policy each year using the payment details given when you purchased the policy, this is of course you ask Churchill not to at point of sale.

Churchill Legal Assistance Service and Cover:
The hourly rate for a qualified solicitor or legal executive will most likely be in excess of £100*.  For £1.93 per month, Churchill's Legal Assistance Service (CLAS) provides up to £100,000 of legal costs to help recover you losses that cannot be claimed from any insurance policy.

Examples may include:

  • Death or injury compensation.
  • Your comprehensive car insurance policy excess.
  • Accident repair costs if you do not have Comprehensive cover.
  • Damage to your personal belongings, clothes or luggage if you do not have Comprehensive cover.
  • Rental car hire costs.
  • Loss of earnings.

Churchill Legal Assistance Service will also extend protection for anyone authorised to drive your car and for any authorised passengers travelling in your car at the time of the accident.

The solicitor acting for you will handle all aspects of your claim, including locating a medical expert such as an osteopath or physiotherapist, if this is necessary for the treatment of an injury resulting from the accident. The medical specialist's charges will be met by CLAS.

The appointed solicitor is regulated by the Law Society which, ensures that you receive a professional qualified legal service.

Enhanced Courtesy Car from £2.28 a month
If you rely on your car, you need to be able to rely on your cover. A courtesy car which is, for example, much smaller or less powerful, could turn simple things like getting the kids to school or getting to meetings into a nightmare.

This bolt on is designed for customers who need more than the standard courtesy car that we offer, Enhanced Courtesy Car cover guarantees you a replacement car of a similar standard to your own.

- Just what you need?
The Enhanced Courtesy Car product is ideal for people who:

  • Drive a more powerful or larger car.
  • Drive a car with seven seats like an MPV.
  • Have a high annual mileage.
  • Have only one car in the household.
  • Use your car for business/commuting use .
  • Drive a van
- What do you get?
  • A replacement car for repairs, write offs and if your car is stolen.
  • The replacement car is of a similar size - up to a large family estate, mini MPV or small van.
  • You get the replacement car within 24 hours of registering your claim.
  • You will recieve a £500 transport allowance (for taxis and public transport) if you are injured and unable to drive.
  • An emergency £50 fund to complete your journey if your car is removed after the accident.
  • Cover for up to 28 days from registering your claim

- How do you buy?
If you wish to buy Enhanced Courtesy Car tick the box when promoted as yuo apply online or call Churchill anytime to take out this cover. The cost is £27.30 a year for comprehensive customers. You can also add this to non-comprehensive policies for £38.85 per year. Upgrading your car after a claim will prove costly, from just £2.28 per month Churchill will give you the cover that should suit your needs.


Making a Claim
To make a cliam call the 24 hour claim line 0845 603 3599. To ensure that the claim process is quick easy and painless you must make sure that you have follow the following proceedure.

- If you find yourself in an accident:

  • Stop! by law you are required to stop after an accident. it can be a serious offence if you do not.
  • Always check to see if anyone is hurt and if needed call for an ambulance.
  • If there has been an injury, you will need also need to call the Police and get an incident number.
  • Providing it is safe to do so, you should not move the cars before an independent witness (maybe the police) has noted their positions.
  • Even if you feel you are at fault never admit liability at the scene. Churchill will take care of this for you.

- Echanging details:

  • Obtain the party involved name, address and phone number.
  • The vehicle make and model.
  • The vehicle registration number
  • The party's insurance company
  • Their Policy number.
  • Write down details of the accident and draw a sketch map of what happened. If you have a mobile phone or camera, take photos.
  • Take a note of the names, addresses and registration numbers of any witnesses present.
  • If your car cannot be driven, Churchill will usually arrange for it to be taken to the nearest suitable mechanic with their 24 hour accident recovery service.

- After an accident

  • After an accident, you need to tell Churchill as soon as possible, they have a 24 hour claim line to make it easy to contact them. The number is 0845 603 3599
  • Churchill will then talk you through what happens next and take the details of your claim over the telephone
  • They will then tell you where your nearest recommended repairer is and organise for them to contact you.
  • Churchill's recommended repairer will also arrange a courtesy car whilst your car is being repaired.
  • Alternatively, you can have your car repaired at another garage but you must make sure Churchill approve the estimate before having repairs carried out. Do not take your car in for repairs without Churchill approving the estimate first.
  • Don't forget you will be required to pay any excess as shown on the schedule Churchill provide.

- The Claims process
As the claim proceeds you should follow the recommendations Churchill make to ensure the claims procedure is as quick and simple as possible. Keep all receipts and copies of any letters linked to your claim.

Remember failure to colate the correct information at the time of the accident could seriously impede the speed at which the claim is processed. The more accurate information you have the better.
